Saying Good-bye

I always wondered why every summer or at Christmas time when my Mom cried when leaving her mothers home. We would go at least once in the summer then at Christmas to visit grandma's house. We always had the best time-- doing nothing. We would walk to town which I thought was so far away but it only was about four blocks. There was a trail we would always go through heading to town and when we got there the only thing to do since there was only the post office a general store and a dime store ( we don't have them any more) was check the mail then go buy a little food. Then we had to carry it all back home to grandma's house. It was so much fun, we also would pull up peanuts and eat them raw. This was in Georgia and the only thing I hated was the Georgia nats, they would be every where. I remember my grandmother fixing the best pineapple upside down cake, I loved it. We would pick peas, tomatoes and go fishing in somebody's pond. I never remember catching anything, but just going was pure fun. My Uncle Johnny would walk back to town in the evening because mail was put out twice, we would go to the dime store and get a whole bunch of candy for 50 cents.
And back then the churches were left open, well we would go inside them also, just looking around.
On the day that we had to really buy food we would take the car to the big town of Tifton, Ga. , I think the store was called Harvey's, it seemed like it took all day long to buy groceries. Then we had to put them all up in the pantery and grandma had a big one.
At night we would just all sit outside and talk or play Gin Rummy or Monopoly . Well here is where the story is leading up to, the day we had to leave. We would get the car all packed up and ready to come back home and grandma would always have to give you something before we left just a little something.
Mama, me and my brother(Dink) would all get in the car and start back well thats when the crying started. We would leave going one way then grandma and uncle Johnny would run to the back of the house where they could see the car leaving again then back to the front for the last wave. Mama would just start crying and we just sat there till she finnished and on down the road things got better and we were glad to be on our way back home.
Well I am at that point now in my life when Mike and I are waving bye to our youngest son and his family. It breaks your heart, it really feels like it's gonna bust. And then you have a little grandson who holds on to your neck telling Mama and Daddy bye, but he has to leave also, with Mama and Daddy. It will kill you. at least it does me. I know now how my mother felt when saying goodbye, it's really hard. But then after a while everything is back to normal until the next trip and then it starts all over again.

Summer Vacations with the White Family

Vacations with the "White Brothers", there are so many times of fun and adventure. There are so many that it will have to be written in a book. We had so much fun that it really could be in a real book if we could get all our information together.
Every summer we always planned a time of fun and as I said adventure because it never failed that something dramatic always happened. I will try and think of one maybe two. Remember these were years ago, before cell phones, we had the Dukes of Hadzards walkey-talkey's and not to mention we had matching vans. Guy's family had one walkey talkey and we had the other. We thought it was the greatest thing, the only problem is you had to hold them out the window and be right beside each other, we picked up a lot of " trucker language"so we had to be careful to keep the volume down when we went by them. But I can remember Mike saying to get either beside or behind the semi's and the draft would pull you and we wouldn't use as much gas, didn't really buy that idea. I remember that Guy always led the way, where ever we went. And he would get mad at Mike because he wouldn't keep up.
I think we went to Disney World 5 times, I don't think that I can ever go back. It was always so hot!!!! I remember one time Mike decited since it was hot. wearing socks would make his feet too hot. Well when you get to Disney World at first light and walk miles and miles, well your feet start getting blisters. Thats went Guy had to take his socks off and give them to Mike to wear because he had blisters and couldn't walk anymore. Not to mention that Guy didn't let Mike ever live that down.
Also we never made reservations any where we went, but when we found a motel it was always rentivated and owned by the people from India. Becky and I always had to check out the sheets to make sure they were clean and no little pubic hairs on them, we left many motels and always found one at midnight.
The kids were always pretty good, Matthew and Ashley (five years apart Matthew the oldest) well they would always ride with Guy and Becky. Brandy and Adam (4 years apart, Brandy the oldest) they would ride with us. Matthew and Ashley were always afraid of everything, so they didn't ride many scary rides, Brandy and Adam were just a like not scared of anything and would do anything. They stayed in trouble the most.
I remember one time and I don't remember what vacation we were on but we stopped at a gas station to get gas and Adam was little and had to go to the bathroom. Well I don't know why I just didn't take him to the restroom but I didn't, instead there was a 7up bottle in the cup holder so I just let Adam use that bottle, not thinking I put the bottle back in the cup holder. Mike got finnished pumping gas went and paid got back into the van. He was really hot so he just picked up the bottle and drank Adams pee, well he spit it everywhere, not to mention he wanted to kill me, the bad thing is I did it twice. I can't believe we are still maried:):):):):
Well I need to rest my brain right now so I will think of others to write about later.
Thanks for reading.

The Very First Time-----blogging:):):)

This is all new to me, but I am not afraid to try anything. Our new pastor is 79 years old and she has a computer and I am sure uses email. So if she can do it, so can I. The only thing is that I am not sure if I am doing it correctly. I would like to add pictures and other stuff. I ask Matthew to help but he is SOOOOOOOOO busy. I would like to talk about people, hail, hair, music, airport nuts, and lots of other things so I will just begin with nothing this time. This is just a trial and error, grant you I cannot spell.
